Hamas Says New U.S. Proposal on Gaza Cease-fire Accommodates Netanyahu's New Demands, Prevents Deal
Vice President Kamala Harris, asked outside a campaign event in Pennsylvania whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is prepared to agree to a ceasefire, said that the U.S. is not giving up."I will not speak for him, but I will tell you these conversations are ongoing, and we're not giving up. We're going to continue to work very hard on this. We've got to get a cease-fire and we've got to get those hostages out," Harris said. U.S. President Joe Biden, when asked about the status of cease-fire talks between Israel and Hamas after landing at Joint Base Andrews on Sunday, said "It's still underway, we're not giving up, [it's] still possible." The head of the Israeli army's Central Command, Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth, conducted a nighttime situation assessment at the scene of an attack in a West Bank industrial area near the settlement of Kedumim and said that "This is a very serious attack. ¡¡ "We are in pursuit of a criminal terrorist and we will deal with him soon. At the same time, we will investigate [the incident] in depth in order to learn and try to prevent similar incidents in the future," Bluth continued. ¡¡ The Israeli army said that many soldiers ¨C including special forces ¨C are now operating in the area, setting up blockades and continuing to search for the assailant. |
