Watson told the media in front of the Congress on July 1st local time that "Trump and Vance should be removed from office". He also criticized the Trump administration's practices in Iran, Venezuela, and immigration policies. The United States Capitol Police stated that the public is generally not allowed to demonstrate on the steps in front of the Capitol unless accompanied by a member of Congress. It was reported that after the member of Congress accompanying Watson left, the police asked him to "cease illegal demonstration" or he would be arrested, but Watson refused to obey the order. The police stated that Watson was arrested on charges of "gathering a crowd, obstructing and impeding traffic". |
