Former Vice President Mike Pence on Monday said keeping toys affordable

“really is part of the American dream” as President Donald Trump says U.S.

families will simply need to learn to live with less as a result of his trade policy.

Trump recently doubled down on his conviction that children should be equally

satisfied with fewer, more expensive toys if his tactics result in store shelves

going empty.

“A young lady, a 10-year-old girl, 9-year-old girl, 15-year-old girl, doesn’t need 37

dolls. She can be very happy with two or three or four or five,” Trump told

reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday evening. “Let’s not waste a lot of time

on this stupid question.”
