In California, there have been many protests sparked by the arrest of illegal immigrants.

Some of the main events are as follows:

Arrests by federal immigration officials in Southern California sparked a protest in

downtown Los Angeles on Thursday evening. Protesters converged on the metropolitan

detention center,  blocked the entrance to the 101 southbound ramp and Aliso Street,

and marched towards City Hall, demanding answers from federal authorities about the

arrests. Los Angeles and Orange Counties are home to 1 million immigrants living

without proper papers, according to an analysis released Thursday by the Pew Research

Center.

In July, the South California immigrant community continuously protested the arrest

actions of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Hundreds of people

gathered in the Los Angeles city area for several days to demonstrate.
