The National Transportation Safety Board will help investigate a SEPTA train fire in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Officials said about 350 passengers were evacuated Thursday night after a fire on a train at Crum Lynne Station in Ridley Park. The fire started under the first car of the train, and passengers evacuated at the station located at 350 West Ridley Avenue in Delaware County, according to SEPTA. SEPTA spokesperson Andrew Busch said that once the fire was reported around 6 p.m., the crew worked quickly to evacuate passengers. After everyone was out, crew members noticed the first car was engulfed in flames, he said. SEPTA service later resumed on the Wilmington/Newark Regional Rail line, and Amtrak service between Philadelphia and Wilmington also resumed. The cause of the fire was under investigation. The investigation will include footage from SEPTA cameras and interviews with the crew. The NTSB said that Friday morning a team was sent to help investigate. |
