Temporary appropriations bill failed to pass, senators:

There is no obligation to vote for a dictatorship's budget

By America-Today    October 17, 2025

The U.S. Senate still failed to pass a new temporary funding

bill on the 14th, sending the federal government shutdown

into its third week.

This was the eighth time the Senate voted on a temporary

funding bill proposed by Republicans and passed by the

House of Representatives. The bill still failed to secure the 60

votes needed for passage that day, dragging the shutdown

into its third week.

Due to significant differences between Republicans and

Democrats on core issues like Medicare-related benefit

spending, the Senate failed to pass a new temporary funding

bill before the end of the previous fiscal year on September

30th, causing the federal government to run out of funds to

maintain normal operations and the shutdown to begin on

October 1st.
